Protection from the Sun’s Deadly Rays
From Alternatives Newsletter Summer 2008
More than one million skin cancers are diagnosed each year
in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society. That's more than cancers of the prostate,
breast, lung, colon, uterus, ovaries, and pancreas combined. Most skin cancer is caused by too much
exposure to ultra-violet rays, according to Dr. Patricia Ryan, founder of
Alternatives: A Center for Conscious
Health.
“That’s not the only damage the sun can do,” Dr. Ryan
noted. “Did you know the sun and UV rays
have the greatest impact on how our skin ages?
From 85 to 90 percent of visible signs of aging are caused by the sun.”
Alternatives: A Center for Conscious Health, has many types
of sunscreens available from organic lotions and minerals to prescription
strength varieties with anti-aging ingredients.
