The Anti-GM Recipe: Red Lentil Stew


Red lentil stew made from healthy ingredients is a recipe sure to please the hungry eaters in your house.  A good source of protein, this dish will be a warming and nutritious introduction to cooking with Lentils.
 
Here’s a tasty fall and winter recipe made from products that are generally safe from genetic modification, according to Kathi Bratberg, RN, B.S. Holistic Nutrition at Alternatives. 

Ingredients:
4 Tablespoons coconut oil
5 cloves fresh garlic
¾ teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
2 ½ cups water
1 cup red lentils
1 large or two small fresh tomatoes, peeled and chopped 


Directions:
Heat oil in heavy skillet. Sauté garlic and then tomatoes. Stir and cook 5 minutes until tomatoes are paste. Put in (washed and drained) lentils - add 2 1/2 cups water. Boil - then simmer 30 min. Add lemons and salt. Serve warm with Basmati Rice.
